Men's Tennis Shares School's Highest GPA

Minnesota's men's tennis team was honored on Monday with the highest grade point average of the school's 25 varsity sports and also made the biggest improvement of any sport.

The squads 11 members combined for a 3.51 cumulative team grade point average, which matches the women's cross country team for the best of any Gophers' sport. Tennis was the only men's sport to be in the top 10 of cumulative team GPA's.

The tennis team also received the Norman Borlaug Award for the greatest improvement in team GPA from one year to the next.

Also, junior Dino Bilankov was honored as one of the top five scholar-athletes among all of the university's male athletes of junior or senior standing. Bilankov posted a perfect 4.00 GPA during the fall semester.

The awards were presented on Mon., Feb. 16 at the annual scholar-athlete awards banquet at Memorial Hall on campus.
