The No. 23-ranked University of Minnesota Men's Tennis team lost its first match to No.7 Southern Methodist University 4-2 at the TenniOnline.com Invitational Saturday afternoon in Dallas, Texas.
The Golden Gophers won one singles match, but won two of three doubles matches to earn two team points. Junior Tyson Parry, of Chatham, Ontario, Canada, won the lone singles match with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Alexis Rudzinski at the No. 5 singles position.
In doubles action, sophomore Thomas Haug and senior Martin Michalowski defeated Toby Hansson and Jon Wallmark 8-5 at the No. 1 spot. At No. 2 doubles, junior Jorge Duenas and freshman Harsh Mankad defeated Dustin Mauck and Vinay Venkataraghavan 9-7.
