Singles Brackets 
Singles play began today at the 2011 Big Ten Men’s Indoor Tennis Championships, which is being held at the University of Iowa.
Freshmen Eric Frueh, Leandro Toledo, Mathieu Froment, sophomore Juan Pablo Ramirez and senior Michael Sicora are representing the Gophers in the 64-player tournament.
Sicora is the only Gopher still in the field. He began the tournament with a 6-1, 6-4 win against Iowa’s Joey White and advanced to the round of 16 with a 6-3, 7-6 win against tenth-seeded Barrett Franks of Michigan. Sicora will face seventh-seeded Stephen Hoh of Illinois on Sunday morning with the chance to advance to the quarterfinals.
Froment eliminated No. 2 seed Josh Graves of Northwestern 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 in the first round, but could not get by Wisconsin’s Jack Larsen in the second round as he fell 7-6, 6-3.
Ramirez dropped Penn State’s Chris Young 7-6, 6-1, but then fell 6-2, 6-1 to Drew Lied of Michigan State in the second round.
Toledo, who was seeded fifth, was upset in the first round by Austin Brooks of Michigan State 1-6, 6-3, 6-3. Frueh fell 6-2, 6-1 to Ross Guignon of Illinois in the first round.
