After being edged in a tight match in the first day of play at the 2013 Saint Francis ITA Men's All-American Championships at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Okla., Minnesota men's tennis junior Leandro Toledo recovered and finished his tournament with a win Tuesday afternoon. Toledo defeated South Carolina freshman Andrew Schafer 7-5, 6-3 in consolation play.
Toledo, who dropped his first-round qualifying-draw match against No. 116 Benjamin Lock of Florida State is now 1-1 on the fall season. He went 8-4 last fall en route to a 25-11 season overall.
In his first match of the season Monday afternoon, Toledo lost 3-6, 7-6 (5), 6-2 to fellow third-year player Lock, who had won his first two matches of the year a week ago. Schafer was coming off a 6-4, 6-4 loss to Connor Glennon of Memphis Monday in the first round.
Toledo's pair of matches were the first of the season for any player on the Gophers.
