MINNEAPOLIS - The Maroon and Gold are set to begin their 2017-18 campaign in the Sunshine State as they battle with (No.23/20) Florida State at the Morcom Aquatics Center. The meet is currently scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. central time.

The teams will compete in the 16-event format, racing 100s and 200s of each stroke, the 1000, 500 and 50 free in addition to the 200 IM. The team will start the contest with the 200 medley relay and finish with the 200 free relay. Both 1-meter and 3-meter diving will run simultaneously to swimming.

Men's Preview

Minnesota enters the season having gone a perfect 9-0 in dual meets last season. Both teams saw their programs earn top-25 rankings in the preseason TYR/CSCAA polls. The Gophers came in at No. 21, while Florida State came in at No. 23.

The Gophers and Seminoles have only met up one time in program history, after last year's meeting was cancelled due to hurricane Matthew.  Minnesota was edged by Florida State 158-42 back on Oct. 3, 2015. Minnesota hopes to make a splash early with the return of strong relay squads.

About Florida State

The Seminoles will be competing in their first dual of the season following a second place finish at the All Florida Invite. Junior Kanoa Kaleoaloha was named the ACC Performer of the Week following impressive showings in his freestyle and butterfly events. Tyler Robeerge was named ACC Diver of the Week following a first place finish in the 3-meter (351.30) and 1-meter (327.60). Last season the `Noles produced the biggest jump in program history with a fifth place finish in 2017 at the ACC Championships.

Women's Preview

Minnesota will look to pick up right where the left off, on a high note. The Gophers posted a 10th place finish at the NCAA Championships following a fourth place finish at the Big Ten Championships and 8-1 dual season record. The Gophers are already in the national spotlight with their No. 17 ranking in the TYR/CSCAA preseason polls, while Florida State came in at No. 20.

The Gophers lead the all-time series 2-0 following a 54-41 victory in 2000 and a 212-88 victory at home on Oct. 3, 2015. Last year's meeting was cancelled due to hurricane Matthew.
