Coming in at number ten on our list of Top Ten Moments from the 2013-14 season was hosting the 2014 NCAA Women's Division I Swimming and Diving Championships.
It's no secret that the University Aquatic Center is one of the premier college pools in the country, and the team was eager to share their home pool with the nation's best.
Goldy the Gopher kicked off the three-day event diving from the pool's 10 meter platform.
For the Gophers, the meet included another top-10 finish for the Minnesota Women's program, including several lifetime bests and outstanding performances.
The Gophers' Championship Roster included Tess Behrens, Erin Caflisch, Samantha Harding, Maddie Hoch, Kiera Janzen, Maggie Keefer, Jessica Plant, Jessica Ramberg, Tori Simenec, Breanne Siwicki, Kierra Smith, Rebecca Weiland, Lauren Votava and Blake Zeiger.
Highlights included veteran diver Maggie Keefer competing in her 4th NCAA Championship, placing as high as 4th place on the 1 meter and qualifying for consolation finals on both the 3 meter and platform events.
Other memorable events included sophomore Kierra Smith placing 6th in the 200 breaststroke, Kiera Janzen placing 7th in both the 500 free and 1650 free and Rebecca Weiland breaking Minnesota's 50 free record during prelims.
The Golden Gophers finished the NCAA Championships in tenth place with a total of 136.5 points.
The team is very excited for the upcoming season and NCAA Championships that will be hosted in Greensboro, North Carolina at the end of March 2015.
