Minnesota sophomore CJ Smith put together an impressive performance in the 1,500-meter freestyle Sunday on the seventh day of the U.S. Olympic Trials at the CenturyLink Center in Omaha, Neb. The distance specialist finished 13th overall in the event with a time of 15:29.19.
Smith came up short in his bid for a spot in the finals, as only the top eight finishers advanced to Sunday's 1,500-meter freestyle finals that are set to take place Monday night. There will be no preliminaries Monday morning.
