Freshman Barnard Qualifies For NCAA Championships

The University Aquatic Center welcomed some of the best collegiate divers in the nation this week as Minnesota hosts the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships.
Ninety-two divers took part in the three-day event, which qualified individuals into their respective NCAA Championship meets.
Wednesday's events included Men's and Women's Platform Diving.

The Golden Gophers, guided by Head Diving Coach Wenbo Chen, qualified nine divers in this week's events (five women and four men).
Gopher Women's Platform
Senior McCrady finished 3rd in the event with a total of 610.75 points. Platform diving qualifiers for NCAAs only includes the first and second place finishers.
Katy Etterman finished 12th in platform diving with a total of 513.50 points. Her younger sister, Elizabeth, will be joining the diving team next year as a freshman.
Gopher Men's Platform
For men's platform diving, the Gophers sent four of four divers to the finals.
Freshman Matt Barnard finished 2nd in platform diving finals to advance to the NCAA Men's Swimming & Diving Championships. He had a total of 823.97 points.
Manny Pollard finished in 4th place with a total of 798.16 points in platform diving.
Sophomore Dylan Zoe finished in 7th place with 694.89 points. Teammate Eric Larsen finished in 10th place with a final score of 674.68.
