The No. 15 University of Minnesota men’s swimming and diving team will travel to Madison Friday for the Triple Duals against Wisconsin and No. 18 Purdue. Friday’s events begin with diving at 3:30pm and swimming following at 5pm.
“We felt going into the week that we just needed to have a good week in terms of being healthy and in terms of performing better in practice, being a little more consistent,” Kremer stated.
The Gophers hosted North Dakota last weekend, winning all 16 of the events and earning a 198-90 victory, after coming off their month of training and the first week of classes.
“I think the routine, it’s now another week down the road in terms of the routine with school and swimming,” Kremer said. “This has been a much more stable week so we feel that our preparation has been a little bit better, we’re a little bit healthier than we were a week ago at this time. We hope that that means that we’re going to perform a little bit better at Wisconsin.”
Minnesota hosted the Badgers earlier this season, winning 191-100. Last year at the Triple Duals, the Gophers beat Wisconsin and Purdue and hope for the same outcome this weekend.
“Against Wisconsin and Purdue, we need to perform much better than we did on Friday of last week,” Kremer stated. “We feel like our preparation has been better and hopefully that means we compete better too.”
The Badgers are coming into the weekend sitting at 4-7, following losses against Virginia and Virginia Tech. Purdue is at 4-2 on the season, coming off a 5th place finish at the SMU Classic.
Saturday’s events begin with diving at 9am and swimming at 10:45am.
