Career Notes: Ranks second all-time at Minnesota in the 200 butterfly (1:44.24) ranks third all-time in the 100 butterfly (46.95) four-time All-American.
2012-13 Junior Season: Placed second in the 200 fly and 100 fly and third in the 200 IM and as a member of the 200 medley relay team at Michigan (10/5).
2011-12 Sophomore Season: Earned All-American Honors in the 200 fly at the NCAA Championships, placing 12th (1:44.42) also earned All-American honors with a 16th place finish in the 800 free relay finished 29th in the 100 fly (47.40) established a top time in the 100 fly at the Big Ten Championships (46.95) for ninth place placed fourth in the 200 fly (1:44.52) member of the fourth place 400 medley relay and eighth place 200 medley relay finished 19th in the 100 back (49.03) claimed 16 different first place titles throughout the season earned Big Ten Swimmer of the Week Accolades letterwinner.
2010-11 Freshman Season: Earned All-America honors as part of the 400 medley and 800 free relays finished sixth in the 100 butterfly at the Big Ten Championships with a time of 47.05 won the 100 fly against Iowa was fifth in the 100 fly and sixth in the 200 fly at the Minnesota Grand Prix placed second in the 100 fly and sixth in the 200 fly at the Georgia Invitational won the 100 backstroke against Hawaii won the 100 fly and 200 back and was second in the 200 fly against Missouri won the 100 fly at the Minnesota Challenge letterwinner.
High School: A 2010 graduate of Lincoln-Way North High School high school coaches were Pat Shaughnessy and Paul Desruisseaux 2010 Illinois state champion in the 100 butterfly Illinois state runner-up in the 100 fly as a junior NISCA All-American and all-state honoree all four years of high school set six individual school records and three Southwest Suburban Conference records swam for North Aquatic Club and coach Bill Magnuson also won four letters in water polo and was an all-state honoree Illinois State Scholar high honor roll student National Honor Society member.
Personal: Born August 19, 1991 majoring in chemical engineering son of Tim and Maureen Van Swol has two brothers, Josh and Zach Josh swam for Monmouth and Zach swam for Illinois-Chicago.
