2016-17 Freshman Season: All-American honorable mention • part of record-breaking 400-free relay (2:51.06) at the NCAA Championships • Outstanding Student Athlete award recipient • improved times at the Big Ten Championships in the 50-yard free (19.91), 100-yard fly (46.28), and 200-yard fly (1:47.15) • placed first with a 48.68 in the 100-yard fly against North Dakota • improved times in the 50-yard free (20.96) and 100-yard free (45.61) at the Minnesota Invitational • improved times in the 100-yard free (44.96) and 100-yard fly (47.53) at the AT&T Winter Championships • earned a 1:50.62 in the 200-yard fly against Hawaii and Drury • improved to 1:49.38 200-yard fly against Purdue and Northwestern • placed first in the 200-yard free with a 1:39.28 at the Minnesota Challenge.
High School/Club: Graduate of Makelanrinteen Lukio, where he swam for coach Matti Mäki • swam the 100-meter butterfly in 53.51 (LCM) and 51.82 (SCM) • top time for the 50 butterfly is 24.02 (LCM) • top time for the 50 freestyle is 23.68 (LCM) • swam the 100 freestyle in 49.44 (SCM) • fastest time in the 100 IM was 54.40 • was named Malekanrinne Sports High’s 2015 Male Sports Captain • competed in the 2014 Berlin Europeans semifinal in the 50 fly • two-time national champion in the 100 IM in 2014 and 2015 • represented Finland at two LEN European Championships.
