Coming off a successful campaign in 2016-17, the Gophers return to the pool, looking to build on their success in the upcoming season.
2016-17 Senior Season: All-American honorable mention • Team Captain • part of the record-breaking 400-yard relay (2:51.06) at the NCAA Championships • named Hardest Worker by teammates • named Iron Fish • improved in three events at the 2017 Big Ten Championships: 50-yard free (19.85), 100-yard free (43.33), and 200-yard free (1:35.07) • earned first place with a 1:38.32 in the 200-yard free at the Minnesota Invitational • earned three, top-10 finishes at the AT&T Winter Championships: 50-yard free (20.05), 100-yard free (43.69), and 200-yard free (1:35.89) • earned 23rd place with 1:35.29 in the 200-yard free at the NCAA Championships.
2015-16 Junior Season: Named Hardest Worker • Placed in the top-five in each event competed in during the regular season • At the 2016 NCAA Championships, Fair was named a Honorable Mention All-American in the 400 medley relay, and also placed 20th in the 200 free relay and 21st in the 400 free relay • During the 2016 Big Ten Championships, Fair recorded personal records in each of his individual events and placed 5th in the 200 medley relay, 5th in the 200 free relay, 5th in the 400 free relay, 6th in the 400 medley relay, 10th in both the 50 free and 100 free and 17th in the 200 free to score 92.5 points for Minnesota.
2014-15 Sophomore Season: Second-year letterwinner • At the 2015 Big Ten Championships, Fair finished 18th in the 100 free and 22nd in both the 50 free and 200 free. He was also a member of 4 relays, placing 4th in the 200 medley relay, 7th in the 400 medley relay, 7th in the 200 free relay and 6th in the 400 free relay (2/25-2/28) • Placed 3rd in the 100 fly at the 2015 Minnesota Challenge (2/7) • Took 1st in the 100 free and 2nd in the 200 free during the Big Ten Triple Duals against Northwestern and Purdue (1/30-1/31) • Finished 3rd in both the 50 free and 100 free at N.C. State (1/23-1/24) • Finished 1st in the 100 free and 4th in the 200 free at Hawaii (1/7) • At the 2014 Jean K. Freeman Invite, Fair finished 2nd in the 50 free and the 200 free, while recording a 5th place finish in the 100 fly (12/5-12/6) • Took 11th in the 100 free, 12th in the 200 free and 19th in the 50 free at the 2014 Arena Grand Prix at Minneapolis (11/20-11/22) • Finished 3rd in both the 50 free and 100 free at Florida (11/8) • Against Iowa, Fair placed 1st in the 200 free and 2nd in the 100 free (10/31) • Took home 1st in the 50 free vs. North Dakota (10/24) • Finished 4th in the 200 free and 2nd in both the 50 free and 100 free against Wisconsin (10/17) • Placed 2nd in both the 50 free and 100 free at Arizona State (10/4).
2013-14 Freshman Season: First-year letterwinner • Relay member for the Gophers at the 2014 NCAA Championships • Finished 27th in the 100 free (44.33), finished 31st in the 200 free (1:37.60), and placed 22nd in the 50 free (20.33) at the Big Ten Conference Championships (02/27-03/01) • Placed 7th in the 100 free (46.42), placed 9th in the 100 fly (51.17), and placed 6th in the 50 free (21.03) at the Minnesota Challenge (02/07-02/08) • Placed 7th in the 100 free (46.33), placed 7th in the 50 free (20.80), and placed 6th in the 200 free (1:41.55) vs. Purdue and Wisconsin-Madison (01/31-02/01) • Placed 7th in the 100 free (45.99), placed 5th in the 50 free (20.94), and placed 7th in the 200 free (1:41.28) vs. NC State (01/24) • Placed 10th in the 100 fly (51.22) at the Jean Freeman Invitational (12/07).
