The 2013-14 hockey season will mark the inaugural year for the first strictly Minnesota Division I NCAA hockey tournament at the Xcel Energy Center. This tournament will have a unique twist because fans will have the opportunity to help name the tournament. Learn more about the event by clicking here.

Fans can submit their proposed tournament name via social media, as well as right here on GopherSports.com. Gopher Sports will collect all of the entries and a top five name list will be unveiled. Fans will then have the opportunity to vote on the top five entries right here at Gophersports.com. The fan vote will count for 25% of the overall vote with the opportunity to sway our panel's vote in favor of the best name to represent the tournament.

Name Submission Process:

  • Tweet using the hashtag: #MNCollegeHockey
  • Submissions via GopherSports.com, Facebook, & Twitter
  • Gophers' New Media Department will collect all entries
  • Representatives from Gopher Sports will then decide on the top eight
  • Final vote will be decided by a voting panel with the fan vote consisting for 25%
