The NCAA Division I Men's Hockey West Regional is returning to the State of Hockey, NCAA officials announced today.
The University of Minnesota will once again team up with Xcel Energy Center to bring the 2014 West Regional to St. Paul on Saturday, March 29, and Sunday, March 30.
It will be the fifth time in the last six years that the Twin Cities will play host to college hockey's premier event. Mariucci Arena hosted the 2009 West Regional, with Xcel Energy Center hosting the tournament in 2010 and 2012. Xcel Energy Center also hosted the 2011 NCAA Men's Hockey Frozen Four.
Ticket packages for the two-day event are expected to go on sale in the fall of 2013.
Home of the NHL's Minnesota Wild, Xcel Energy Center seats 18,064 for hockey and will also be the site of the inaugural Big Ten Men's Hockey Championship, March 20-22, 2014.
