The Minnesota men’s hockey team and men’s basketball team are both in post-season action on Friday, March 22. The men’s hockey team will face either Colorado College or North Dakota at 7 p.m. in the WCHA Final Five, while the men’s basketball team will face UCLA in the NCAA Tournament at 8:57 p.m.
The dueling events create a radio scheduling conflict, as both team’s games can usually be heard locally on 1500 ESPN. Efforts have been made to insure that fans of both teams can listen to each game locally in the Twin Cities.
The men’s hockey game, with a pre-game show beginning at 6:30 p.m., can be heard in its entirety on 1500 ESPN. The broadcast will include the post-game show as well. The radio call of the men’s hockey game can also be heard for free on GopherSports.com.
The men’s basketball game, with a pre-game show beginning at 8:25 p.m., can be heard in its entirety on FM 107.1. The broadcast will include the post-game show as well. Per NCAA rights agreements, the radio call of the mens’ basketball game will not be available on GopherSports.com.
Once the men’s hockey post-game show is over on 1500 ESPN, the channel will then join the basketball game in progress and simulcast the game call and post-game show live.
