Gophers Host Michigan This Weekend
MINNEAPOLIS (GopherSports.com) - Minnesota sophomore goaltender Mat Robson has been honored for the second week in a row by the Big Ten Conference, earning Big Ten First Star of the Week on Tuesday after shutting out the then-No. 1 team in the country on Sunday.
A native of Mississauga, Ont., Robson stopped all 34 shots he faced in Sunday's 2-0 win over St. Cloud State for this first career shutout. The sophomore, who was named the Big Ten Third Star of the Week last Tuesday, improved to 2-1-0 on the year and leads all Big Ten goalies with a .964 save percentage and a 1.01 GAA. Robson has stopped 81 of 84 shots for the year.
Minnesota returns to Big Ten action this weekend with a two-game series against Michigan. Both games in the Friday/Saturday series are set for 7 p.m. CT at 3M Arena at Mariucci.
