Sheehy's Four-Point Night Leads `U' to Tie, Shootout Win

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Tyler Sheehy notched a new career high with four points as the Gopher Hockey program settled for a 6-6 overtime tie on Saturday night at Yost Ice Arena. The Maroon & Gold picked up the bonus point in the conference standings by winning their first shootout in the Big Ten era.

Minnesota (7-4-1 overall, 3-2-1-1 Big Ten) scored six goals from six different players in the series finale with the junior captain leading the way with a goal and three assists. With a goal and two assists tonight, Rem Pitlick has now tallied points in 11 of the Gophers’ 12 games this year while Tommy Novak had a goal and an assist to give him seven points in the last three games.

Ryan Lindgren, Brannon McManus and Sam Rossini also tallied goals for the Maroon & Gold.

Michigan (6-3-1, 2-1-1-0) rallied from a four-goal deficit as the two teams combined for 12 goals in regulation.

Rem Pitlick and Tyler Sheehy scored to win a three-round shootout as Minnesota took two Big Ten points on the night.

Eric Schierhorn made 27 saves in goal for Minnesota.

The Gophers return to action next weekend with a two-game nonconference series against Harvard at 3M Arena at Mariucci.
