Junior forward Travis Boyd

On tonight's game...

“We knew it would be a close game. It was actually a lot of fun out there. We haven’t really had a challenge in our first four games. We were hoping to get a game like this, and I think we really improved as a team."

On two BC goals in 11 seconds...

“We just got away from our game there. I think we just relaxed. But we got it turned back around. And we got the play in our favor again."

On the shootout...

“We lost the shootout, but it was a lot of fun. There has been a lot of talk about it in the last few years, even in the WCHA. I’m one of those guys who’s for it. It’s an exciting thing for the fans and players.”

On the Friday/Sunday series...

“It was a tough game, but I think we need a day to rest up for playing against a team like that. Fast-paced. So having a day to rest the legs isn’t a bad thing.”

On Boston College taking the lead...

“I think we just got comfortable. That’s something that we can’t do. We have to make sure that we keep the foot on the pedal for all 60 minutes.”

Minnesota head coach Don Lucia

On tonight's game...

“That was a heck of a game. The pace, the plays that were made by both teams, if you made a mistake, you were going to pay. For us it was adjustment, with the transition game that they have. We obviously don’t have to play anybody else like that this year. We had to be physically engaged.”

On Boston College rallying...

“They had a couple good plays. They scored those two goals. It’s 3-2 twelve minutes into the game, you have to wonder if it is going to be one of those 8-7 type games. I think the goal tenders settled in, I think the teams settled in. At first, we lost some structure to our game. But, it was just a heck of a game.”

On the excitement late in the game...

“All of the guys have done a great job back there. I was hoping that Sam could have ended it there with seven seconds left, with an unbelievable move. The roof would have caved in there on that one. The fans were into the game. You could see and hear that the fans were into the game, the tempo, the goals and the play were outstanding.”

On the shootout...

“You know it’s a tie, but it’s great practice for us. It’s interesting, the dynamics of winning and losing a shootout. You lose, and you feel like you lost the game. You win, and you feel like your won the game. But it was good for us to go through that.”
