Named to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team • skated in 36 games as a rookie for the Gophers • notched 32 points (14 goals, 18 assists) to finish tied for fifth on the team in scoring and first among rookies • made his collegiate debut and scored his first collegiate goal on Oct. 7, 2016 at UAA • notched three assists (a single-game high) in Minnesota's win over Ohio State on Dec. 2, 2016 • notched his first career hat trick and set a single-game career high with four points (three goals, one assist) in Minnesota's win over Penn State on Feb. 17, 2017 • also recorded four points including a hat trick in Minnesota's exhibition game against USA Hockey's National Team Development Program • named Minnesota's Frank Pond Rookie of the Year • earned first letter.

Born April 2, 1997 • native of Plymouth, Minn. • son of Lance and Lisa (Wittwer) Pitlick • father was a defenseman for the Gophers from 1986-90 (captain in 1989-90) and skated in 144 career games with 39 points (10 goals, 29 assists) before an eight-year career in the NHL with Ottawa and Florida • mother was a two-time Big Ten champion gymnast for the Gophers (team MVP in 1988) and went on to compete with USA Gymnastics • cousin, Tyler Pitlick, played at Minnesota State and skates in the Dallas Stars organization • selected in the third round (76th overall) of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft by the Nashville Predators.

No. 7 Gopher Hockey opened its home and Big Ten conference seasons suffering a 3-1 defeat against No. 11 Penn State on Friday evening at 3M Arena at Mariucci.
