MHK: Gophers defeat Penn State to win the B1G title

The Gophers defeated Penn State on Senior Night to win the 2015 B1G regular season championship.

Joined the Gophers in 2013 • alternate captain (2015-16) • skated in 101 games with 36 points (12 goals, 24 assists) through his first three seasons with Minnesota • All-Big Ten Honorable Mention (2016) • Academic All-Big Ten (2015, 2016) • Dr. V. George Nagobads Unsung Hero Award (2015, 2016)  three-year letter winner. 

Alternate captain • All-Big Ten Honorable Mention and Minnesota's Big Ten Sportsmanship Award winner  played in all 37 games for Minnesota (a new career high) and also posted career bests with 18 points, six goals, 12 assists and 66 blocked shots • his six goals in 2015-16 doubled his previous career best (three in both 2013-14 and 2014-15) • tied for the team lead with four power-play goals -- the first of his college career • one of his two even-strength goals on the year was the game winner in a 5-3 victory over Michigan State • five of his six career multi-point games came during the 2015-16 season (team was 4-1-0 in those games) • co-recipient of the team's Dr. V George Nagobads Unsung Hero Award • Academic All-Big Ten honoree • earned third letter.

Scored 21 points (eight goals, 13 assists) in 15 games as a senior at Grand Rapids High School • was a finalist for Minnesota Mr. Hockey in 2013 and was honored as the winner of the Reed Larson Award, given annually to the top senior boys high school hockey defenseman in Minnesota • led Grand Rapids defensemen and finished third on the team with 37 points (11 goals, 26 assists) in 21 games in 2011-12 • also scored 25 points (five goals, 20 assists in 24 games during the 2010-11 season for Grand Rapids • also spent parts of the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons with the Omaha Lancers of the USHL • tallied a total of 22 games with the Lancers.

Born July, 25, 1994 • native of Grand Rapids, Minn.  son of Grant and Tammi Bischoff • has six siblings, Jordan, Jonah, Blake, Ty, Jazzy and Jered • drafted 185th overall in the seventh round of the NHL Entry Draft by the New York Islanders • father, Grant, played forward for the Gophers from 1988-91 and collected 161 points (80 goals, 81 assists) in 180 games.
