Single Meet Tickets On Sale!: Full CGA Ranking Release
For the second straight season the University of Minnesota men's gymnastics program is ranked No. 4 in the preseason NCAA Men's Gymnastics Poll, announced by the College Gymnastics Association (CGA).
"I'm always excited about this time of year as we approach the start of our season. Our team has been training hard to prepare for another season that we feel has the potential to be both exciting and successful," head coach Mike Burns said. "We have a big group of seasoned veterans that will be counted on heavily this year along with some very talented underclassmen. Our preseason No. 4 ranking is indicative of how the rest of the gymnastics community views our potential this year as well. At the same time the more critical ranking is the one at the end of the year. We will continue to prepare to compete and let our results speak for themselves."
The Gophers placed fifth at the 2017 NCAA Championships last season which was their first top-five finish since 2002 at the NCAA Championships. They have 10 seniors on the roster this year and return All-Americans Vitali Kan (vault), Tristan Duran (parallel bars and high bar) Jalon Stephens (high bar) and 2017 Big Ten floor champion Alex Wittenberg. Wittenberg along with senior Joel Gagnon are the captains this season. The Maroon and Gold also brought in four freshmen
