First Intrasquad Meet Was A Success, Second Meet Scheduled For Saturday

The Minnesota men's gymnastics team held its first Maroon and Gold Intrasquad this past Saturday at Cooke Hall. The Gophers will hold a their second and final intrasquad meet on Saturday, Dec. 8.
 
The meet will once again be held at Cooke Hall and is free and open to the public. Warmups will begin at 1 p.m. and competition starts at 2:15 p.m. 
 
Last Saturday, the Gold team defeated the Maroon squad 251.5 to 248.4.
"The guys looked good at the first Intrasquad," said head coach Mike Burns. "It's always a process to get into full routine mode and for the first go around they did ok. I expect them to look much better at our next Intrasquad this Saturday at Cooke Hall."
 
Junior co-captain Yoshi Morinishi led the Gold Team to victory with a pair of first place finishes on floor exercise (14.9) and vault (14.6).
 
"Yoshi looked very good hitting all four of his routines," said Burns
Adam Kern of the Maroon Team tied for first on floor exercise with Morinishi while Gold Team's Ellis Mannon took home first-place honors on pommel horse with a 15.3. 
 
Still rings also had a tie between Zack Chase of Gold and freshman Michael Farquhar of Maroon with identical scores of 14.4. 
There was a three way tie for first place on vault between Morinishi, Kern, and sophomore Donnie Carper, all posting identical scores of 14.6.
Matt Frey of the Gold Team took top honors on the parallel bars with a solid routine that scored a 14.6 and freshman Danny DiBenedetto won the high bar with a score of 14.7
