The University of Minnesota will be well represented this week at the P&G Gymnastics Championships in Hartford, Conn. Juniors Ellis Mannon and Steve Jaciuk will be competing in the event that helps select who represents the United States on the national team.
The four-day competition is held Aug. 15-18 in Hartford’s XL Center and will be televised by NBC Sports Network and NBC (click here for broadcasting information). The men will compete on Aug. 16 and 18.
Mannon was named an All-American as a sophomore after taking second place on the pommel horse at the NCAA National Championships with a 14.900. Mannon also finished second on the pommel horse at the Big Ten Championships, which were hosted by Minnesota. Mannon was honored with the team’s Outstanding Accomplishment Award at the end of the season.
Jaciuk was one of Minnesota’s most consistent gymnasts all year, as the Gophers placed third in the Big Ten Championships. He excelled in and out of the gym, as he was named Most Valuable Gymnast and also earned a spot on the Academic All-Big Ten team. Jaciuk, who competed on rings, parallel bars and high bar, earned a podium spot on the high bar at the Big Ten Championships after he recorded a 15.000.

University of Minnesota men's gymnastics sophomore Shashank Yallamraju was named the Gophers' Most Improved Gymnast of the 2016 season.
