GO GOPHERS! GO GOPHERS!
The Burns Blog: Day 3 at the U.S. Olympic Trials with Guillermo Alvarez

Go Gophers!

The bus took us back to the Wachovia Center Wednesday morning for a 45-minute media session and the first of two scheduled workouts. All the athletes in the meet were seated around a room on stools and the media rotated around, asking each guy questions about the meet, etc. After the media opportunity was over, some guys went back to the hotel on the bus while others stayed to train. Guillermo stayed to train, with the plan of being done after the morning workout.

After Tuesday’s workout, we made a list of skills that Guillermo needed to focus on for Wednesday. He went through everything, making the necessary changes we discussed. All in all, this was a very good training session and now the final countdown to the meet begins. Today, we will jump on the bus at 4:15 p.m. and head over to the Wachovia Center for Day 1 of the Olympic Trials. I believe there will be live coverage of the meet on the USAG website (www.usa-gymnastics.org).

Guillermo will be the first gymnast up in the entire meet, as he starts the meet on floor exercise. The competition will be extremely stiff at this level, so the pressure will be on all the athletes.

Hope all is well back in Minnesota or wherever you may be reading this.
