Team Awards Announced at Season-Ending Banquet

The Golden Gopher men's gymnastics team brought its 2011-12 season to a close with its season-ending banquet. The annual event was held Saturday afternoon in the "M" Club Room at TCF Bank Stadium.

The following team awards were presented by head coach Mike Burns and assistant coaches Kostya Kolesnikov and Russ Fystrom:

Most Improved Gymnast - Kyle Banks
Outstanding Freshman - Sean Bauer
Spirit of Gopher Gymnastics Award - Steve Jaciuk
Most Conscientious Gymnast Award - Justin Morinishi
Academic Excellence Award - Nathan Fortunato
Most Tenacious Student-Athlete Award - John Scallon
Most Impoved Competitor - Steffen Beck
Outstanding Championship Competitor - DJ Repp
Most Valuable Gymnast Award - Russell Dabritz

First year letter jackets were presented by M Club director George Adzick to Kyle Banks, Sean Bauer, Donnie Carper, Steve Jaciuk, Ellis Mannon, and Spencer Smith.


 

 

Graduating seniors Travis Heaver, DJ Repp, Russell Dabritz, Ross Cameratta, and Jesse Moravec were also recognized and presented with M Club Pins by George Adzick.

To end the evening, team captains were announced for the 2012-13 season. Leading the Gophers next year will be Justin Morinishi and Steve Jaciuk.
