Incoming freshman Shane Wiskus (Spring Park, Minn.) earned gold in the senior all-around competition at the University of Calgary International Cup this past Friday. Wiskus is a member of the U.S. Junior National Team.
"Shane continues to excel and is making a strong case for great things over this next quadrennium,” head coach Mike Burns said. “Taking home the gold medal in the all-around at this international competition is a huge step forward in his already impressive career. His transition to the Minnesota program will be a smooth and exciting one for all of us."
Wiskus scored an 80.500 for gold. By event, he notched a 14.250 on floor, 12.900 on pommel horse, 13.450 on rings, 13.000 on vault, 13.750 on parallel bars and 13.150 on high bar.
Wiskus signed a National Letter of Intent to compete for the University of Minnesota this past November. He will be a part of the 2017-18 roster.
