The No. 6 Gophers had their five-meet win streak come to an end at No. 9 Iowa 405-950-400.750 this afternoon. Air Force came in third with a 388.600.

“Iowa was on fire. I knew they were going to be because they started hitting on all cylinders last week and they carried it into their senior night,” head coach Mike Burns said. “We can’t dwell on it. We have to solve the problem. We have to find the solution and implement the solution. We are a much better team than we showed today but we can’t cry in our soup. We just have to fix the problem.”

Vitali Kan took home the lone event title of the day for the Gophers with a 13.850 on floor. Shane Wiskus competed all-around and notched a 78.950 for third.

POMMEL HORSE

Justin Karstadt took fourth with a 13.550 and Kan came in fifth with a 13.500 as the Gophers started the afternoon scoring 64.800 on pommel horse.

RINGS

The Maroon and Gold posted a solid 66.700 on rings led by a second place 13.850 from Wiskus. Yaroslav Pochink scored a 13.700 for fifth and Jalon Stephens went 13.500 for a seventh place finish.

FLOOR

The Gophers took the top two spots on floor. Kan won the event title with a 13.850 and Joel Gagnon was right behind with a 13.800. Shaun Herzog took fourth with a 13.600.

PARALLEL BARS

P-bars was a strong spot for the Gophers. They notched a 68.350 led by a 14.150 in the anchor spot from Wiskus. That mark was good for second. Duran came in third with a 13.700 and Herzog was fourth with a 13.600.

HIGH BAR

The Gophers ran into some trouble with back-to-back falls early on in high bar. Duran got things back on track with a 13.600 and fifth place finish. Wiskus finished on the podium with a 13.700.

VAULT

This afternoon was the first time in five meets that the Gophers did not break the 70 mark on vault. Herzog finished third with a team leading 14.300. No other Gopher cracked the top-10 on the event.
