The No. 6 University of Minnesota Gophers move on to face UIC in Chicago, Ill. on Sunday after back-to-back top-five wins. It will be the same site that will host the upcoming NCAA Championships in April.

The Gophers have a three score average of 409.050 while the Flames have one of 369.033. The highest score reached by the Gophers this far this season is 413.250.

Weekend Rewind
Minnesota is coming off an upset victory at No. 2 Penn State last weekend. Shane Wiskus, Justin Karstadt, Tristan Duran and Shaun Herzog all took event titles as the Gophers had a took first in five events.

The Gophers generated big points in their final event, as the meet came down to the wire. Herzog won parallel bars with a 13.750, while Wiskus and Karstadt had 13.650 and 13.600, respectively. Those three scores pushed the Gophers ahead of the Nittany Lions to secure their second top-five victory of the year.

The meet included a season-high 68.050 on pommel horse, and the Gophers continued to exceed on vault with their fourth straight team score over 70.

The Final Stretch
The Gophers have only four meets remaining before heading into the Big Ten and NCAA Championships in April. After UIC, they will head back onto the road next weekend to face the Iowa Hawkeyes in Iowa City, then host California on March 18.

They conclude the regular season in Lincoln, Neb. on March 24. That meet leads into the Big Ten Championships in Ann Arbor, Mich. the first weekend of April.

Wiskus and Herzog Get Some Rest
Head coach Mike Burns announced on his weekly episode of “Burns Turn” that he will rest Wiskus and Herzog Sunday.

Wiskus has been a force on all-around the whole season, scoring above 82 on two different occasions. He was recently named to the United States Senior National Team with his performance at the Winter Cup in Las Vegas. He is currently the top-ranked gymnast on floor, averaging 14.308.

Herzog has consistently performed in five events this season for the first time of his career. Both are gearing up for the postseason with goals of top-10 finishes.
