FULL INTRASQUAD MEET SCORES
MINNEAPOLIS -- The No. 9 University of Minnesota men's gymnastics team held an intrasquad meet in Minneapolis on Saturday afternoon. The purpose of the intrasquad meet was to evaluate the Golden Gophers as they enter the final stretch before competition begins in January.
The Maroon team was able to come back from a two and a half point deficit after three events to win the intrasquad meet thanks to strong performances by Adam Kern, Steffen Beck, Steve Jaciuk, Matt Frey and Sam Wright.
Ellis Mannon was the only Gopher to participate in the all-around, finishing the day with a score of 84.40.
"Overall I was pleased with today's performance and we had some excellent routines on several events as the Maroon team came back from a 2 1/2 point deficit after three events," said head coach Mike Burns. "It was good to see how well Maroon did when they looked to be down by a fair amount at the halfway point. Gold Team was forced to compete 3 up, 3 count on two different events so they had no room for error and unfortunately had to count a couple of missed routines on those events."
The Golden Gophers will begin their season at home at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 11 in the Sports Pavilion. The first official meet will be held on Jan. 18 in Chicago, Ill. at the Windy City Invitational. The full schedule can be found here.
