The Minnesota men's gymnastics team held its annual season-ending banquet Saturday afternoon. Congratulations to the team and coaches on an outstanding season.
Six Gopher gymnasts and a total of seven routines qualified for the Individual Event Finals of the Big Ten Championships. Four routines finished in the top five.
Highlighted by Nathan Fortunato's 4.0 GPA, 13 Gopher Gymnasts earn Academic All-Big Ten honors.
2012 SENIOR SEASON: Competed in all 12 meets as a rings specialist Scored a career high of 14.700 on rings against both Nebraska (2/18) and UIC (2/25) Presented as a Big Ten Sportsmanship Award honoree at the Big Ten Championships (4/07).
2011 JUNIOR SEASON: Competed in ten of 12 meets on the still rings received Academic All-Big Ten honors scored career-high 14.700 against Nebraska (3/18) earned his third varsity letter.
2010 SOPHOMORE SEASON: Competed in five of 13 meets on the still rings received Academic All-Big Ten honors Second Team Academic Excellence Award recipient scored a career-best 14.500 against Air Force, Nebraska, and Calgary (1/30) earned his second varsity letter.
2009 FRESHMAN SEASON: Competed in two meets scored a season high 13.5 on the still rings at the Windy City Invite competed in both the still rings and the parallel bars against Iowa, Nebraska (2/14) letterwinner
2008 REDSHIRT SEASON
HIGH SCHOOL/CLUB:A 2007 graduate of Henry Sibley High School in Mendota Heights, Minn. trained at Turner's Gymnastics from 1995-2003, and trained at Great Northern Gymnastics from 2003-2007 a three-time gymnastics letterwinner at Henry Sibley won the regional and state titles in floor exercise in 2005 was a regional team member in 2005 won state and region titles in 2007.
PERSONAL:An electrical engineering major earned two high school letters as a member of the math team enjoys SCUBA diving son of Peg and Keith Heaver has one sister, Tiffany born October 16, 1988.
