playedUniversity of Minnesota sophomore men's golfer Simon Nash finished fifth at the Savane Golf Classic in El Paso, Texas. The three-round event was played at the El Paso Country Club and featured 24 returning 2001 collegiate All-Americans.

Nash, a 2001 honorable mention All-American, shot a final round 66 today to move up from 14th place. Nash carded rounds of 74-69-66=209 to finish six shots behind tournament champion Brad Heaven of Toledo. Junior Wilhelm Schauman, also a 2001 honorable mention All-American, finished in 23rd place after carding rounds of 73-71-79=224.
