Jon Trasamar has earned Big Ten Golfer of the Week recognition, the conference announced today. It is Trasamar’s first weekly honor by the Big Ten.
The Blue Earth, Minn., native led the Gophers in their first team victory since 2007. Trasamar was the individual runner-up at the Barnabas Health Intercollegiate, which Minnesota won by 17 strokes on Monday.
Trasamar carded a career-low 66 in the second and final round. He shot a 7-under-par 29 on the back nine, with five birdies and an eagle, on the way to finishing 6-under overall. Trasamar’s 66 is tied for the 13th-best round in the Gopher record books.
Minnesota’s last B1G Golfer of the Week was Erik Van Rooyen, who shared the honor on April 3, 2013.
