Minnesota travels south to Birmingham this weekend to take part in the Jerry Pate Intercollegiate tournament. The Gophers registered their lowest score of the season last week with a 54-hole total of 880.
The Gophers' scores have improved steadily since the beginning of the season after starting the season with a team total of 932.
The Jerry Pate Intercollegiate is hosted by the University of Alabama. The Crimson Tide have been victorious in this tournament four times out of the last six years.
Individually, the Gophers look to continue to drop strokes as well. Freshman Jon DuToit registered a 222 last weekend for a career low while Senior David Haley Jr. contributed a three-round total of 220, his lowest tournament score of the fall season. Additionally, senior Erik Van Rooyen is coming off of his second-consecutive top-five finish.
Play begins Monday, Oct. 15 with 36 holes of continuous play. The final round will begin Tuesday, Oct. 16. Start times will be announced Sunday.
The Course: The Jerry Pate will take place at the Old Overton Country Club in Vestavia Hills, Ala. The par 71 course plays at 6,936 yards.
The Field: The Gophers will be joined by: Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Mississippi State, Middle Tennessee State, Stanford, South Alabama, UAB, UNLV, and West Florida.
