After a sixth-place finish at the Maui Jim Intercollegiate, the Minnesota Gophers will hit the road to compete in the Alister MacKenzie Invitational. The tournament is hosted by the University of California Berkeley in Fairfax, Calif. The Gophers will tee off Monday, Oct. 9 at 10:15 AM CST with 36 holes and conclude on Oct. 10 with 18 holes, teeing off at 7:40 AM CST.
This is the Gophers' second consecutive year in the tournament. Last year, the team finished 17 under par. Four Gophers were at par or better.
The field: California will host Fresno State, Harvard, Hawai'i, Nevada, Oregon State, Pepperdine, San Diego, San Diego State, San Francisco, San Jose State, Santa Clara, St. Mary's and Washington, as well as Minnesota.
Santa Clara (4), California (35), St. Mary's (44), San Diego State (48) and San Francisco (49) all rank in Golfweek's top 50 going into the tournament.
The course: The Meadow Club plays at par 71 and is 6,734 yards.
The travel squad: Angus Flanagan, Peter Jones, Evan Long, Riley Johnson and Rúnar Arnórsson will play in Minnesota's lineup. Flanagan and Jones are each coming off a top-10 finish at the Maui Jim Intercollegiate. Long is making his first appearance in the scoring lineup.
