The University of Minnesota men's golf team will play in the 58th annual William H. Tucker Intercollegiate this week in Albuquerque, N.M. The first round of the tournament will start at 8:45 a.m. CT on Friday, Sept. 27, with the second round following immediately. The third and final round will begin at 8:45 a.m. CT on Saturday, Sept. 28.
Jose Mendez, Tyler Lowenstein, Jon DuToit, Jon Trasamar and Alex Gaugert will compete for the Golden Gophers. All five have played both of Minnesota's previous tournaments this season. Mendez is coming off of his first career top-10 finish at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate.
The course: The UNM Championship Course has a par of 72 and will play at 7,562 yards.
The field: The Gophers will join host New Mexico along with Arizona, Arizona State, Brigham Young, Colorado, Colorado State, New Mexico State, San Diego State, USC, TCU, UNLV, UT-Arlington, UTSA, Wichita State and Wyoming in the 16-team field. Minnesota has already faced New Mexico this season, as the Lobos won the Gopher Invitational.
Notes: *Mendez's ninth-place finish in his second collegiate tournament was the third top-10 finish by a Gopher freshman in the past two years. DuToit finished in the top 10 at the Snowman Getaway and the Big Ten Championships as a freshman last season.
*The Gophers tied for fourth at last year's Tucker with a score of 890 (+28). DuToit is the leading returner for Minnesota, as he tied for 29th (+8).
