The University of Minnesota men's golf team is in fifth place after two rounds of the Olympia Fields Illini Invitational in Chicago, Ill. The Golden Gophers fired rounds of 297-287 for a two round total of 24-over 584. Minnesota trails tournament leader Stanford by nine shots going into tomorrow's final round at the par 70, 7,200-yard Olympia Fields Country Club.
Minnesota was led by senior All-American Niall Turner who carded a second round 69 and is tied for seventh at 3-over 143, five shots behind Tom Oliver from Purdue. Junior Clayton Rask is tied for 10th at 4-over 144 after two solid rounds of 72. Senior Bronson La'Cassie is a shot back tied for 13th at 5-over 145. Sophomore Victor suffered an 80 in round one, but bounced back with a second round 73 and is tied for 45th at 13-over 153. Sophomore Patrick Datz is tied for 54th at 16-over 156.
