Golden Gophers senior Tyler Lowenstein was the low amateur at the Bobcat North Dakota Open over the weekend. He carded a 3-under 69 on Friday and posted even-par rounds the next two days to claim the top amateur spot by one stroke.
"Tyler has done a nice job of working himself into a leadership role within Gopher Golf coming into the 2014-15 competitive season,” head coach John Carlson said. “Winning the amateur division at the North Dakota State Open with three solid rounds is the culmination of many hours of preparation for his senior year as a Gopher. I asked all the players after our 2014 Big Ten Championship and NCAA Regional appearance to enjoy the summer of competition and time with family, while keeping in mind to have a goal of bringing total confidence in their games to the Gopher Invitational Sept. 7."
