AmateurUniversity of Minnesota men's golfer Bronson La'Cassie advanced to the second round of match play at the United States Amateur Championship today at Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck, N.Y.

La'Cassie, a sophomore from Brisbane, Australia, advanced to the round of 32 with a 2 and 1 victory over Buck Williams of the United States. La'Cassie will play Nicolas Thompson tomorrow morning.

La'Cassie never trailed in the match going 1 up on the second hole. Williams won the seventh hole after La'Cassie double bogeyed the par 3 and the match was all square until the 10th. La'Cassie won the 10th with a par and the 12th hole with a birdie on the 640-yard par 5. The Australian gave one back at the 14th, but battled back with a win after Williams bogeyed the 16th. The 17th was halved and La'Cassie won 2 and 1.
