The University of Minnesota men's golf team stumbled today at the NCAA Championships and dropped into a tie for eighth after three rounds. The Gophers started the day a shot off the lead, but couldn't get anything going in round three finishing 20 shots off the pace set by No. 1 ranked Stanford. The Cardinal sit atop the standings at 12-under 828. Minnesota shot 14-over today and have a three-round total of 8-over 848 tied with Florida. The top 15 teams advance to tomorrow's final round at the par 70, 6,803-yard Golden Horseshoe Golf Course.

Senior All-American Bronson La'Cassie, the leader of the individual standings after two rounds, struggled all day and fell into a tie for 37th place after a 79 today. La'Cassie is at 1-over 211, one shot ahead of teammate Victor Almstrom. The Swedish sophomore, Almstrom has held steady all tournament wtih a 71 Friday. He is tied for 43rd at 2-over 212. Senior Niall Turner is also tied for 43rd at 2-over 212 after a third round even-par 70. Freshman Ben Pisani carded a 78 Friday and sits at 8-over 218 and is tied for 101st. Junior Clayton Rask is tied for 117th at 10-over 220.
