University of Minnesota senior Ben Pisani opened with a one-over 71 in the first round of the NCAA Central Region Golf Tournament Thursday at Warren Golf Course in South Bend, Ind. Pisani's 71 puts him in an eight-player tie for 21st place.
Pisani started his round with a birdie on the par four first hole and finished his first nine holes with a one-under 34. He concluded his second nine with a two-over 37 with bogeys on holes 12 and 18.
A native of Brisbane, Australia, Pisani led the Gophers in the fall and spring seasons in stroke average at 70.14 and 73.78, respectively.
