TeThe 23rd-ranked Minnesota men's golf team is tied for sixth after two rounds of the NCAA West Regionals in Albuquerque, N.M. The Golden Gophers are tied with New Mexico, UCLA and first-round leader Texas at 12-over-par, six shots behind tournament leader UNLV. The Championships are being held at the par 72, 7,368-yard Championship Course at the University of New Mexico.

Third-seeded Minnesota shot a 10-over-par 298 on the day in windy conditions. Sophomore Justin Smith is tied for second place at 2-under- par after firing a even-par 72 today. Sophomore David Morgan is tied for 29th at 3-over-par. After two rounds of 75, junior Matt Anderson is tied for 60th at 6-over 150. Sophomore Simon Nash carded a 74 in the second round and moved up to 74th at 7-over 151.

The NCAA West Regionals conclude tomorrow with the third round starting at 7:12 a.m. mountain time. The top 10 teams and the top two individuals not on those teams qualify for the NCAA Championships May 29 - June 1, in Columbus, Ohio.
