Gophers Receive Norman Borlaug Award

The men’s golf team received the Norman Borlaug Commitment to Academic Excellence Award at Gopher Athletics’ annual Golden Goldys and Scholar Athlete Banquet.

The award recognizes the men’s team that has demonstrated the highest level of commitment to academic excellence. The team had a cumulative GPA of 3.37 after the fall, and freshman Grady Meyer turned in a 4.0 in his first semester of college.

The Gopher men’s golf team was also nominated for Male Team of the Year, and John Carlson for Men's Team Coach of the Year.

The senior from Fargo, N.D., asked for and received a second year as appointed team leader.

Justin Doeden tied for 18th, leading Minnesota for the third time this fall.

Gophers Post Best Score Since 1998


The Gophers carded a 269 in round one of the Alister MacKenzie Invitational.
