University of Minnesota junior Bronson La’Cassie was named Big Ten Co-Golfer of the Week Tuesday by the conference office. La’Cassie shares the honor with Chris Wilson of Northwestern. La’Cassie and Wilson tied for second at last weekend’s Fossum Invitational in East Lansing, Mich. La’Cassie fired a final round 69, which matched a season low for the native of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, and the second-place finish matched a career- best recorded in 2004 at the Fossum. Already a two-time All-American, La’Cassie recorded the third top-10 finish of his collegiate career and the 14th round in the 60s in his much-heralded Gopher career.

This is the third Golfer of the Week honor La’Cassie has earned in his career and the third time this season a Gopher has been been recognized by the Big Ten. Niall Turner won the award on March 29 and Josh Persons and Victor Almstrom shared the weekly honor on April 5.

Minnesota competes this weekend in the Big Ten Championships at Conway Farms Golf Club in Lake Forest, Ill. The tournament begins Friday with 36 holes followed by 18 holes on Saturday and the final round is Sunday at the par 72, 7,168-yard Tom Fazio designed layout. Conway Farms was the site of the 1997 NCAA Men’s Golf Championships.
