After a short turnaround, the Gophers are back on the road to take part in the Rutherford Invitational in University Park, Pa. April 20-21. Play will take place at the Penn State University Blue Course.

The Gophers were consistent with their scoring last weekend, with scores of 293-293-294. Every Gopher finished within the top-40 to help them finish the tournament in a tie for third place, 13 shots behind team-champion Kansas.

The weekend was a record-breaking showing for junior Alex Gaugert who had the best tournament finish (4th) and 54-hole score of his career (216). Senior Erik Van Rooyen had another top-10 finish, the ninth of his career, last weekend after finishing tied for sixth with a 54-hole card of 216.

The Course: The Penn State University Blue Course is a par 71 that plays at 7,202 yards.

The Field (Golf Week Rankings): Minnesota (110) will join 13 other teams in the tournament:  Penn State (123), Maryland (103), Bowling Green (213), Seton Hall (273), Youngstown State (237), Rutgers (216), Binghamton (219), Robert Morris (271), Ohio University (221), Xavier (165), Georgetown (230), University of Connecticut (201) and Villanova (183).

Gopher Lineup: Van Rooyen and Gaugert will be joined by senior Robert Bell, sophomore Tyler Lowenstein and junior Jon Trasamar



Up Next: The Gophers will travel to French Lick, Ind. to take part in the 2013 Big Ten Championships April 26-28. Minnesota finished in seventh place in last year’s event.  Van Rooyen paced the Gophers individually with a seventh place finish.
