tThe 14th-ranked University of Minnesota men's golf team is in third place after the second round of The Intercollegiate in Raleigh, N.C. The Golden Gophers shot rounds of 292-283=575 (-1) and trail tournament leader Kansas by 13 shots.
Freshman Clayton Rask (Elk River, Minn./Elk River) led the Golden Gophers and is tied for 12th place at 2-under 142. Senior All- American Justin Smith (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area) and freshman Bronson LaCassie (Camira, Queensland/Kelvin Grove) are a shot back at 1-under 143 and are tied for 14th. Junior Ben Greve (Annandale, Minn./Annandale) battled back after a 78 in the first round to card a 71 in round two and is tied for 36th. Senior David Morgan (Rochester, Minn./Robert L. Stevenson) is tied for 55th at 151.
The 54-hole tournament continues through tomorrow at MacGregor Downs, a par 72, 6,867 -yard layout.
