After one round of play at the FAU Spring Break Championship in Delray Beach, Florida, the University of Minnesota sits in a tie for seventh place after shooting a nine-over 293. The Gophers are currently 11 strokes behind the University of Illinois, who shot an opening round 282 to sit in first place.

Minnesota was led by Ben Pisani's first round 72 and David Haley's first round 73. Pisani and Haley are in a tie for 15th and 25th respectively. Donald Constable and Erik Van Rooyen also contributed to the team score for the Gophers. Both players shot a three-over 74 and are currently in a tie for 33rd. Derek Chang rounded out the Gopher lineup with a nine-over 80. He currently sits in a tie for 80th.

The Gophers will look to move up the leaderboard in Saturday's second round.
