InvitLed by sophomore Wilhelm Schauman's fourth-place finish, the ninth-ranked Golden Gopher men's golf team closed out the Dr. Pepper Intercollegiate Invitational at Tanglewood Golf Course in Pottsboro, Texas, in a tie for 3rd place.

Minnesota finished with a 22-over par 598 in the 17-team, rain- shortened, 36-hole tournament. Purdue captured the team title with an eight-over 584, five shots better than second-place Toledo.

Three of Minnesota's five golfers finished in the top 20, led by 37th- ranked Schauman who fired a one-over 145 to finish alone in fourth place. Following Schauman in the standings were Ben Meyers and Simon Nash in 20th place at 150. Sophomore Zach Faulds competed as an individual in the tournament and finished in ninth place with a three-over 147. Rounding out the Minnesota lineup in the 90-player event were Joe Affrunti at 154 (T-44th) and Justin Smith at 162 (T-79th). Purdue's Lee Williamson was the individual medalist with his two-under 142.

Minnesota next competes at The "Intercollegiate" on Saturday-Sunday, April 14-15, in Cary, N.C.
