After leading the Conrad Rehling Spring Invitational the first two days of competition, the Golden Gopher men's golf team clinched the win Sunday with a team round of 282 (-3). Minnesota finished six strokes ahead of second-place Alabama and Toledo. The Invitational was being held at the par-71 Capstone Club in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
The Gophers' final round of 282 combined with their two previous rounds of 282 and 283, gave them an overall score of 5-under-par 847 for the tournament.
Individually, Minnesota had two players finish in the top 15: junior Wilhelm Schauman tied for 12th and sophomore David Morgan tied for 14th place. Morgan shot the best round Sunday for the Gophers with a 68 (- 3).
The Gophers next event will be on March 23-24 at the Pepsi-Cola Invitational.
