The Minnesota men’s golf team combined to shoot a 300 Sunday in the final round of the Schenkel E-Z-Go Invitational. The squad finished the tournament in 15th place with an overall score of 27-over 891. The University of Alabama won the team portion of the invitational by carding a 54-hole total of 15-under 849. The University of Florida finished second with a score of 8-under 856.
The Gophers’ highest finishers were senior Clayton Rask and junior Victor Almstrom, who both finished with a score of 4-over 220 and in a tie for 33rd place. Sophomore Ben Pisani tallied an 11-over 227 and finished onle in 69th place while freshman Mikael Salminen and junior Yu Katayama both finished in a tie for 72nd with a score of 13-over 229.
George Bryan of South Carolina took home medalist honors with an 8-under 208, one stroke ahead of Alabama’s Michael Thompson and two strokes over Logan Blondell of Georgia Southern.
Minnesota is off until April 4, when they will travel to Augusta, Ga. to take part in the Administaff Augusta State Invitational at Champions Retreat Golf Club. The 54-hole tournament is being hosted by Augusta State University.
