AThe Golden Gopher men's golf team extended their lead Saturday over the field after the second day of competition at the Conrad Rehling Spring Invitational at the par-71 Capstone Club in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
Minnesota was the only school to complete their rounds with a team score under par, surviving a three hour delay and continuous rainy conditions. They shot a 283 (-1), increasing their lead to seven strokes over second-place Alabama. The Gophers stand at 3-under-par heading into the last day of competition.
Individually, junior Wilhelm Shauman scored a round of 72 (+1) and fell three places to sixth. The best round played by Minnesota belonged to sophomore Simon Nash with a 2-under-par 69, which tied him for tenth place.
The Conrad Rehling Spring Invitational will conclude Sunday, March 17.
